The ClimbItForward Initiative was founded by Anabelle Supratman, a member of Team Texas Climbing Club in Dallas, TX, guided by a simple yet powerful belief: every young climber should have access to the right gear to reach their potential.
In Indonesia, young athletes often train with limited or heavily worn equipment. At the same time, in Texas, gently used climbing shoes and gear frequently go unused or thrown away. ClimbItForward bridges that gap by collecting and repurposing this equipment for climbers in need.
Through the generosity of Team Texas families , local climbing communities and friends, each shipment strengthens the foundation of a growing international climbing community — one that values safety, opportunity, and connection.
What began as a heartfelt idea now represents a lasting partnership between Texas and Indonesia, empowering youth through shared passion and purpose.
The project fosters international connections within the climbing community and supports the growth of climbing as a sport worldwide.
From a passionate climber to a community leader building opportunities for youth in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Aspar Jaelolo is known as a world-class speed climber and Asian Games medalist—but his greatest legacy is at home. Instead of keeping his prize money, he used it to build a climbing wall for kids in his hometown who had never had access to the sport he loved.
That wall became the Aspar Jaelolo Climbing Club, a small space where children train for free—some sharing shoes, some climbing barefoot, all chasing dreams that once felt out of reach. In a community with limited youth programs, Aspar created a safe, inspiring place for kids to grow in confidence and find belonging.
His dedication has been recognized by the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation, who admire his passion and creativity in growing the sport with so little.
New adventures are beginning — in shoes that once climbed in Texas.
The first shipment from ClimbItForward Initiatives has arrived at the Aspar Jaelolo Climbing Club, where kids who used to climb in worn or borrowed shoes are now stepping into real climbing shoes for the first time. You can see the confidence in their smiles and the freedom in their movement.
Every pair of shoes, every piece of gear, carries more than just fabric and rubber — it carries encouragement, connection, and a reminder that the global climbing community believes in their dreams.
This initiative is just getting started. While it began with helping young climbers in Indonesia, the vision is much bigger—we want to support youth climbers around the world by giving them access to the shoes, gear, and opportunities they need to grow. With continued support from Team Texas families, friends, and global partners, we can help fill climbing walls everywhere with new climbers discovering their passion.
